The Department of Vermont Health Access (DVHA) acknowledges and appreciates recent feedback from our mental health providers and stakeholders on the Medicaid Supervised Billing rule (HCAR 9.103.3). It has been brought to our attention that the rule, as currently written, may have unforeseen consequences and may cause confusion among providers. To address these concerns, DVHA is revising HCAR 9.103.3 which will be a time-consuming and intensive process.
We have heard your concerns and are actively working to address them equitably and sustainably in both the short and long term. In order for you to continue to serve our VT Medicaid members, we will be issuing an extension ending 12/31/2025, for all rostered providers who are otherwise eligible to bill VT Medicaid, but have met their 5-year billing limit. Vermont Medicaid will use this time to draft and implement revised rules and an updated process for supervised billing moving forward.
At this time, we ask that providers please refrain from emailing or calling with questions since additional guidance is coming and will be available as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will host a stakeholder engagement session virtually to gather your feedback and for VT Medicaid to answer your questions.
