New Campaign Advertising Features Vermont Volunteers

WINOOSKI, VT – Vermont Health Connect released its first phase of new campaign advertising today, illustrating the momentous effort made “for Vermonters, by Vermonters” to establish the state’s insurance marketplace. The Vermonters in the advertising represent the wide range of people from across the state who will have access to quality health coverage through Vermont Health Connect. Over 60 volunteers participated in the making of the television and radio ads, which will begin to air statewide in early September to help broaden public awareness of the Vermont Health Connect marketplace, opening this fall.

“We are thrilled that our ads reflect the diversity of Vermonters who will be accessing high-quality health plans and, for many, financial help through the new Vermont Health Connect marketplace,” said Mark Larson, Commissioner of the Department of Vermont Health Access. “Our goal is to ensure that Vermonters are aware of the new health coverage choices becoming available to them this fall.”

The advertising campaign enhances the diverse outreach and education activities that began one year ago. Vermont Health Connect officials have conducted close to 200 forums, webinars, private presentations, and events to build Vermonters’ awareness of Vermont Health Connect. Since July, hundreds of in-person assisters have joined the effort in communities across the state and are helping Vermonters get to know Vermont Health Connect.

In-person assisters, such as Navigators and brokers, will help Vermonters understand their health care options, enroll in a plan, and access financial help. Small employers and their employees can turn to assisters for help in determining their best health coverage options. Vermonters can also find more information about health plans, learn about events in their area, and utilize helpful tools and calculators at VermontHealthConnect.gov.

Starting this October, Vermont Health Connect will be a new way for Vermonters to find health coverage that fits their needs and budget. Vermont Health Connect is a marketplace where individuals, families and small businesses can make side-by-side comparisons of private health plans and find financial help to lower their medical costs. Vermont Health Connect is also for individuals and families in Vermont to find out about and enroll in low-cost or free public health programs.
